Assessment Research Report
A FREE ASSESSMENT will, based on the information provided, indicate the success of subsequent research and give some recommendations, if necessary, of how chances of success may be improved. THESE REPORTS DO TAKE TIME AND EFFORT AND WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT ONLY GENUINE ENQUIRIES ARE SUBMITTED . Each Assessment process will take about 30 minutes. An assessment is important to avoid paying for and conducting research that may, based on current information, reveal little in terms of historic value. The assessment also provides us the opportunity to request clarifications, such as in the spelling of surnames or Placenames, agree any options or additional items.
For a fee of ONLY €40 a more comprehensive Assessment can be conducted. This will give a more specific and detailed analysis of whether further research would be successful. It will provide, where possible, some results of the Assessment research and a provisional set of recommendations. Each Assessment process is unique but this Assessment will, on average, will take about 1 hour. More importantly, for some researchers, this Assessment includes a proposed Research Plan so that the research may continue their research based on this advice, if they wish.
Pre-research ASSESSMENT – Completed within 3-5 working days
Standard Ancestry Report
The most popular report and flexible to meet specific requirements but is based on the initial 12 hours core research time. This provides comfort to those on a budget but it can be extended if we discover and agree that it would be beneficial to do so. Likewise, if for any reason we find that research is not discovering further information (rarely happens) we can review, stop and the unspent portion of any fee is returned.
It is ideal for anyone who may have already some ancestry records and want to expand on their knowledge or has a greater interest in their ancestry and would like a more comprehensive report. It covers those ancestors born primarily in the 20th or 19th centuries and includes research that is specific to the locality of the ancestor.
The report is a comprehensive account of the ancestor and their family chosen to research and in nearly all cases will be able to discover documented evidence of your ancestors back to, at least, the early 1800s. It includes copies of several documents and in particular birth, marriage and deaths, property and tax and census records.
Standard Ancestry Report - Completed within 4-6 weeks
Extended Ancestry Report
Minimum €400 -
A more advanced report for those that may already have some research done but would like to extend that research as far as possible. Suitable for those requiring a deeper ancestry research with the aim of breaking the ‘1800’ barrier.
The scope of this research is designed to suit each requirement and therefore the fee will vary. It will be agreed on in advance based on a research plan. In addition to the resources used in the Standard Report it may also include, dependent on the agreed research plan; Estate records; Wills; Registry of Deeds; Newspapers, Occupational Records and all Census substitutes including those from the 17th century. The report will include copies of at least 5 retrieved records or documents.
Document Retrieval and Transcription
Additional records for any of the above reports may be requested or separately. Records such as Civil, Church, Census and Property can be provided in transcription form or as a copy of the original.
Prices will vary dependent on requirement but as an example where a date of birth is known a copy of a civil record can be retrieved for €12. All other prices available on request.
Surname Report (€35)
A specific analysis of your Surname origin and meaning including a Surname dictionary, variants, it’s history and distribution throughout Ireland in the 19th Century and a possible coat of arms associated with the name.
Placename Report (€30)
Includes a topographical description from 1837 of the area where your ancestors originated, a history of the Placename meaning, variations and alternatives, historical maps and local photographs where available.
